 Mass of the Holy Spirit

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is the annual celebration of the beginning of the academic year.  This year, the Mass of the Holy Spirit is incorporated into "Dominican Spirit Day," and leads off the beginning of the days events.  The Mass is celebrated outdoors, and is open to everyone of all faiths.  Students, faculty, staff, alumni and Board of Trustee members participate in this annual tradition.

Rosh Hosannah

Dominican celebrates Rosh Hosannah, the Jewish New Year, during the first semester.  The services are led by Rabbi Henry Shreibman, and are open to all members of the Dominican community.

Alumni Christmas Mass

A traditional Christmas celebration is the annual Alumni Christmas Mass.  This Mass is celebrated during one of the Sundays of Advent.  Alumni join together with students, with seniors as their special guests, to celebrate the season.

Alumni Reunion Mass

Alumni Reunion is traditionally held in April of each year.  On the Saturday of Alumni Weekend, alumni gather with students to begin the day with a Mass of Remembrance.  During the Mass, alumni who died over the past year are remembered in a special way.

Baccalaureate Mass

The Baccalaureate Mass opens the Commencement ceremonies at the end of the academic year.  The Mass, planned and led by members of the graduating classes, is held at St. Raphael's Church in downtown San Rafael.  Graduates, families, faculty and staff of the University join together in prayer to celebrate the completion of individuals' journeys and the resulting achievement of a long-sought goal.
