Integrated Health Practices (IHP) Post Masters 'Certificate of Completion'


This post-masters Certificate program offers nursing professionals an exciting opportunity to refresh and supplement existing expertise, while also obtaining new complementary skill sets to enhance their practice.  These courses are conducted in a professional peer environment, and are made available at a fraction of the traditional academic fee.  Credti awarded may be applied toward any credentialing that requires Extension Semester Units (ESU).  Courses are currently scheduled only on Saturdays (Friday evening sessions may be scheduled in future).

Spring 2006:  January 14 - April 22, 2006

EDUX 9732     Integrated Practice II/Spirituality     (TBD)     1 ESU
The spiritual foundations of health, along with both subjective and objective evidence of these  foundations, are a focus of this second course in the Integrated Practices series.  Spiritual philosophies and practices that enhance health are explored.

EDUX 9733     Pharmacology and Herbalism A     (TBD)     2 ESU
The first course in a two-part series focuses on topics of advanced pharmacology; it addresses issues related to the use of alternative/integrative/complementary herbalism, other medicinal substances, and related health care practices.  The course examines the phamacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics of broad categories of Western phamacologic agents.  It also investigates areas of interaction between non-Western medicinal remedies and Western prescription and/or over-the-counter drugs.

Summer 2006:  May 13 - August 26, 2006

EDUX 9734     Impact of Culture on Health and Health Pratices    (TBD)    2 ESU
An exploration of the influence of culture on health and health practices, the barriers that occur between people, their systems, and their health practices as a result of cultural differences, and the influences of culturally aligned health interventions on health outcomes.

EDUX 9735     Pharmacology and Herbalism B     (TBD)     2 ESU

Fall 2006:  September 9 - December 16, 2006

EDUX 9736     Integrated Practice III / Self-Awareness and Expressive Arts     (TBD)     2 ESU
Use of self-awareness and the expressive arts as avenues of healing is a theme for this third course in the series.  Through ross-cultural reviews of the healing arts, as well as through personal exploration of expressive art forms, students examine ways in which the arts are utilizedin both Western and non-Western traditions.

Spring 2007:  January 19 - April 28, 2007

EDUX 9737     Integrated Practice IV / Ethics of Practice      (TBD)     2 ESU
This final course in the series focuses heavily on ethical issues associated with the integration of health practices and implications for the CNS.  Participants examine the ethics of offering and not offering integrated care, as well as other associated ethical dilemmas.

Course Fee:  $350/unit

Courses that are part of a "series" must be taken in order.  A total of 13 units must be completed to be awarded the Integrated Health Practices Certificate of Completion.  These units will not apply toward another masters or doctoral degree.

Note:  to ensure program integrity and quality, participants are required to provide transcripts verifying a masters degree in nursing and a valid RN license.
