The master's program in Counseling Psychology at Dominican University of California prepares students to provide professional counseling, consultation, education and training to a wide variety of clients. Graduates of the program have become marriage and family therapists; consultants, educators and trainers in academic and business settings; and counselors specializing in numerous areas, from career and college counseling to adoption issues and relocation challenges.

The Counseling Psychology program was established in 1978 and its graduates have become known and respected for their professionalism and high degree of academic knowledge and skill. The faculty and staff are committed to keeping abreast of the changes and emerging opportunities in the field of counseling. All clinical faculty are licensed, practicing psychotherapists. Students receive training in the most recent developments in the major theoretical orientations for clinical practice as well as emerging, innovative and alternative approaches to counseling and consultation.

The Department of Counseling Psychology at Dominican University of California emphasizes cooperation, not competition, among students. The Department also encourages diversity of personal styles and theoretical beliefs among faculty and students
