"A witty saying proves nothing" - Voltaire

Brandon - Friday, October 24, 2008 - In this very late blog: Imagine a week of pure and utter insanity, but when you think about it nothing really happened. That is how my week went...

...I'm just going to go through the motions for you and I guess I should start on Sunday, which ultimately was the best day thus far. I watched 'Californication" which is bar none one of the most well written and darkly hilarious television shows on right now (and dare I say it's on par with "Weeds"). Monday was an early morning, woke up and went out to promote the Vote Smart Challenge which was one of the biggest events I've been to at Dominican in the four years I've been here, but more later. Tuesday was the same, just an early and very tiring morning followed by an equally tiring and busy afternoon at work and running errands. Wednesday was less busy but at the same time I was pretty tired from the past days. I took Peggy to the airport; she was on her way to San Antonio for a conference to present a paper, and then when I got back I just went on with class and stuff. But yesterday (Thursday) was the peak of craziness. I woke up early for Vote Smart which if you did not know is a program that is designed to inform potential voters about key issues and the Presidential candidate’s platforms on each. It was a great event and all the teams did an excellent job about focusing on salient and important topics. But back to my story, part of this whole Vote Smart was involving the community and the government classes from San Rafael HS were coming to watch. They needed ambassadors to go down to the school and walk back with the class. So we went, and needless to say walking a mile that early in the morning put quite the drain on your day. (By the way, I think this is the longest blog I've written) After Vote Smart, I gave a great tour to some students from Vallejo, and got a haircut, and then went to work...again.

Now don't get me wrong, I usually don't complain about this kind of stuff. Especially since I had volunteered for most of it. All in all, despite my soreness, tiredness, and now the fact that I've fallen behind, this super busy week was actually fun. I live for this kind of excitement. Packing your day full of stuff and working hard can really have a rewarding feeling. Maybe this could be a lesson to you seniors who might be reading this remember to not slack off as the tendency might be to. I don't want to preach but part of the whole school experience is doing things like volunteer work or playing sports but most importantly it’s giving back to a place that no matter what you might think has given you a lot.

With that I'm finished.

Stay classy.
