And the fall semester goes...
David- Wednesday, October 8,2008- Update on classes, boat dance, and the presidential address given to the students last week.
HI everyone! Good to see all of you again! I am so glad I was asked to return as a blogger for this year! Now that I am president and involved with so many things, it will be great to share with you all that is going on in my life! So, sit back and enjoy reading about what's been going in my life these last couple of months!
My last blog of the summer, I remember telling you about my experience with summer school classes and how I enjoyed my professors. Well, it's time to return to Dominican Academia. Well, so far, I enjoy all my classes and the discussions we have during lectures. I have many of the same professors from last year or previous had at DU. I am not particularly enjoying my physics class but my professor is really encouraging and is always available for assistance whenever we may need it. By far, my favorite class has to be my Gendered Body section. The discussions, lectures, topics, reading, and the students are AMAZING! By far, I have never experienced a class where the topics are so interesting and what's being discussed in class can really pertain to my life. I recommend this class to all my Dominican peers.
As president, there is so much I have to do for the student body. My schedule is packed with weekly meetings with various committees and student forums. I enjoy doing what I do but at times, I feel there isn't enough time in the day for everything that I must complete. However, I know what I am doing will benefit me in the long run and most importantly, Dominican students. Last week, I had my presidential address to the student body. Take a look at my manuscript in the following blog!
On Friday, ASDU had their annual boat dance. If you remember from last year, Boat Dance was canceled due to lack of ticket sells however, this year's ASDU team pulled together and sold over 430 tickets making boat dance happen! It was amazing and a fun night filled with great memories. Everyone appeared to have a great time and there wasn't any issues that needed attention. I am so glad we were able to carry on with the tradition considering this is my last year and last boat dance at Dominican.
Well, I think that's about it for now! I hope you take a look at my presidential address! Have a wonderful day!
David
