ASDU Administrative Forum and Vote Smart 2008

David-Friday, October 24th, 2008- ASDU had it's first Administrative Forum since 2006! And the first Vote Smart Dominican has organized on its campus.

Hello!
I really don't have much to say regarding my life. Everything is great and I am enjoying the last couple months before the end of the Fall semester. I am in the process of scheduling classes for the spring and it's a bitter sweet moment...To actually think this is the last scheduling I will do for my undergraduate studies! YAY! Excited! I am planning to take 17 units but only 14 of the units will be academic classes. I still have to complete an internship and I am adding Teaching Assistance for the first time...considering I have been a TA since my first semester freshmen year! Now, it is time to receive credit for my duties.
On Thursday, ASDU hosted its first administrative forum in two years. The administrative forum is a time where students can directly ask the administration (president, provost, vice presidents, and deans) about anything and everything at Dominican.  The event was amazing! There were over 62 students in attendance and this was the BIGGEST administrative forum in Dominican's history!  ASDU has been breaking records this year and I am very glad I am part of this history in the making team!  Students asked brilliant and sophisticated questions and the administration was very responsive to student’s questions. This aspect about Dominican is the reason why I choose to come to this school. It allows me and my fellow students to engage with the administration about topics and issues that we feel need to be addressed.  I am very happy with the administration and the students who attended this forum.
Lastly, yesterday, Dominican hosted a vote smart challenge which was presentations organized by undergraduates and graduates students about important issues being discussed in this year's presidential election.  We have over 1200 people in attendance and it was an amazing event! I am very proud that my university hosted this important event since it was meant to educate students and community members about issues concerning this very important election.

Well, that's all I have to say for now!

:-D
