-Second Semster Overview- So far...

I have been back from winter break for awhile now...

...and so many things have transpired! 5 weeks has already gone by and I cant believe the many test, basketball games, 6am runs, dances, events, and stress that has taken place. It seems like time has been flying by especially since spring break is only 2 weeks away. This is just a little overview of the second semester and its many details.

Where should I begin, this semester has been filled with so much excitement. After coming home from a long winter break, I was not ready to jump back into the college life of a student-athlete with 17 units, students government, clubs, and work but I had no choice. I must admit I was more than happy to be back with friends, although I was far from happy to step foot in my 8am Monday class. But worst then 8am class has been 6am training for the spring season, which begins March 7th.

However, classes may be completing boring, my social life at Dominican has been filled with much excitement. We are now at the end of basketball season and it was been a season to remember for both teams. The games have been packed with school pride, students wearing black & gold, half-time rallies, and many give-a-ways!

Recently, The Black Student Union has been having events to commemorate Black HIstory Month.Thursday night forums have been held, where students have come to express how they felt on the election results and some issues in the black culture.  We recently had a Male-Basket Auction, where girls placed bids on DU's finest in order  to raise money. We also had tribute to hip hop, which included a lunch filled with break dancing, graffiti art, jump rope, and music from the hip hop era.

The best part of the semester thus far for me has been getting a visit from South African students. They performed songs and dances during our lunch hours, and after I was able to talk with them and got to learn more about their culture. This was a very enriching experience for me, I was able to appreciate the schooling I have here in the US more,  along with making new friends.

The semester has been filled with many great memories thus far and I cant wait to see the many more that occur. Hopefully one day you will be here at Dominican making your own memories and participating in the many activities.
