The Season for Traveling, Projects and Turkey
Michaelia - Friday, November 21, 2008- Its almost time for Thanksgiving break and my plans don't include eating a big turkey, instead i will be running up and down a basketball court in Colorado and getting ready to turn in my last major paper.
This past weekend I went to Los Angeles for two games against Master's College and Biola University. The trip gave me an opportunity to build better bonds with my teammates. Being on the road for 6 hours kind of has that impact on a group of girls. Our first night we had tons of fun in out hotel room acting like a bunch of kids and jumping on and off the beds. Of course we took lots of pictures. On Friday morning we woke to one of the L.A. fires' smoke outside of our window. Luckily the fire was on the other side of the hill but the team and I still had our worries. By Sunday the fires were hardly contained but we finally got to return back to Dominican-Fire-Free. But, for all those who may have been affected by the fires, I send my deepest concerns and blessings.
With the L.A. Trip taking up four days of homework time I had a presentation and an eight page paper due upon my return. This was the longest paper I ever had to write during my college career. I was relieved to finally turn that paper in but I’m already beginning to work on my final paper for that class, which is a little shorter.
There is only two more days of school left before Thanksgiving break, I’m really excited because I just want a break away from school. For the first time ever I will not be having a Thanksgiving feast with my family. No stuffing my face with turkey, macaroni and cheese, biscuits and my favorite cranberry sauce! I will actually be getting on a plane Thanksgiving afternoon and flying to Colorado for a tournament. Even though I’m a little sad I will be missing out on the festivities I’m glad I will be playing the sport I love and hopefully taking home a WIN.
I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and have a wonderful break!
