The Ups and Downs of Midterm Week(s)

Michaelia-Monday, October 20, 2008- Its been a busy few weeks filled with school work and basketball. But its all worth it!!!

Wow October is over half way over, school is flying by so fast. It’s the end of midterms so I’m extremely happy!! For the past few weeks I have been super busy with school projects, work and basketball, but somehow I managed to balance it all out.
School has been one of my biggest time consumers in the past weeks. Not only did I have to work on two major projects, I had two tests to study for and to add to the confusion a couple papers got thrown in. At the time I was overwhelmed to just look into my agenda and see all of the tasks I needed to get done, but looking back I was able to juggle it all.

Work has been amazing, after years of summer jobs I finally have an on-campus job during the school year. I really enjoy being a student ambassador. The fact that I can inform others of my enjoyments at Dominican is great. Working on-campus allows me to have a work schedule that works around my classes and basketball, which is really convenient.

After a straight month of conditioning we finally had official practice. It felt good to actually be able to shoot the ball and scrimmage my teammates rather than race them on the track. Even though conditioning was tiring and redundant it was all worth it, and I know I’m better prepared for the season. But since the start of official practice, our team seems to be very competitive and willing to put in the effort to walk away Cal-Pac Champions at the end of the season.  Just today I had my first P-SAAC (Penguin-Student Athletic Advisory Committee), this committee allows selected students from the Dominican athletic teams to have a voice within the NCAA. I also became secretary of the P-SAAC; just too add another task to my agenda haha.

Even thought I have a really busy semester I’ve been able to balance it out as well as throw some fun into the mix. And at the end of the day I know all my work is for a reason and it will all pay off. Work now, play HARD later. :-)
