Dominican Celebrates Scholarly and Creative Works at Annual Conference
Dominican’s 9th annual Scholarly and Creative Works Conference (SCW) was held April 17 from 9:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. The conference showcased undergraduate and graduate students’ research papers and posters, creative writing, artwork, dance, and music performances.
President Nicola Pitchford opened the conference at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Diara Spain, Professor of Biology and Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, delivered the keynote address at 9:45 a.m. in Guzman Lecture Hall.
Music, a student panel, and a free lunch was held from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Meadowlands Lawn.
Creating signature work and presenting it to an audience is part of every student’s Dominican Experience. It deepens learning and underlines the value of their work.
SCW was open to all members of the University and the greater community. The conference was sponsored by Academic Affairs and La Vida Dominican. Conference co-organizers are Dr. Bill Phillips, Professor of Psychology, and Christina Mayes, Digital Portfolio Specialist and Integrative Coach in the Student Success Center.
