MSNBC Host, Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki to Appear in Leadership Lecture Series
Former White House Press Secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki will appear in person at Dominican University of California on Thursday, May 16 as part of the Spring 2024 Leadership Lecture Series presented by Dominican in partnership with Book Passage. The event begins at 7 p.m. in Angelico Hall.
Psaki will discuss her new book, "Say More: Lessons from Work, the White House, and the World." In the book, Psaki shares her journey to the White House briefing room and beyond, taking readers along the campaign trail, to the State Department, and inside the White House under two Presidents.
The lecture series is hosted by Dominican’s Institute for Leadership Studies. Tickets, which include a copy of the book, are available from Book Passage.
She served as the 34th White House Press Secretary under President Biden until May 2022. Over the course of her 20 years in public service, Psaki also served as White House Communications Director under President Obama, as the spokesperson for the State Department under then Secretary of State John Kerry, and has worked on three presidential campaigns.
Today, Psaki is the host of MSNBC’s Sunday afternoon and Monday evening program, “Inside with Jen Psaki.”
In her book, Psaki explains her straightforward approach to communication, walking readers through difficult conversations as well as moments where humor saves the day—whether it is with preschoolers, partners, or presidents. She addresses the best ways to give and receive feedback, how to connect with your audience, and how to listen actively. She also shares the surprising lessons she’s learned on her path to success and offers unique yet universal advice about how to be a more effective communicator in any situation.
Other authors appearing at Dominican as part of the Spring 2024 series include Pulitzer Prize finalist Tommy Orange (March 1), Booker Prize winner Michael Ondaatje (April 17), and internationally acclaimed author Amy Tan (April 23).
