Student Records Confidentiality
The University maintains an educational record for each student in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (FERPA).
The University may provide Directory Information in accordance with the provisions of FERPA without written consent of the eligible student, unless it is requested in writing each academic year that such information not be disclosed.
This information is also accessible via the Student Handbook and in the Academic Catalog.
Any questions concerning a student’s rights and responsibilities under FERPA or requests for a copy of these policies should be referred to the Office of the Registrar.
Dominican University of California records the student’s progress or achievement in a particular course by letter or pass-fail grades. Grades are given at the end of the semester and represent the professional judgment about student performance in relation to the goals and requirements of a particular course. The grade submitted at the end of the semester is the final recorded grade for the course. For more information visit the Catalog: Grading System.
Students will be evaluated for academic standing at the conclusion of the Fall and Spring semesters. For more information visit the Catalog: Academic Standing Policy and Procedures.
Dominican recognizes outstanding academic achievements through the Dean’s List, Departmental Honors at Graduation and Graduations Honors. For eligibility and requirements visit the Catalog: Awards and Honors.
The Dean's List honors students who have a minimum semester GPA of 3.6 or above based on a minimum of 12 computable (graded) units taken at Dominican. Students with grades of 'I' (incomplete) or 'UF' (unofficial failure) are not eligible for the Dean's List. Pass/fail units are not computable and are not included. Students will not be retroactively placed on the Dean's List as the result of grade change.
The Dean's List is posted online February 15 for the Fall semester and July 15 for the Spring semester. Qualifying students are also notified directly by the Dean of their school after all grades and GPA’s have been posted each semester. Please note — under FERPA Law, students have the right to request that personal information not be disclosed publicly. If this is the case, a students name may not appear on the list.
The Academic Plan (sometimes called a degree audit) is a tool designed to assist students and their advisors with planning and tracking students' progress toward graduation by comparing or auditing their academic record against the requirements for their degree. It is a computer-generated analysis that includes general education, major, minor, and concentration requirements.
Each Academic Plan tracks completed Dominican courses, transfer credit, and in-progress courses (the ones currently being taken at the University). It also provides links to course descriptions and the schedule of courses that will fulfill unmet requirements.
To find your Academic Plan: Login to Self Service with your username and password. Click on the “Register” tab and select “Academic Plan”. Once on the Academic Plan page, click on your displayed degree and major. (i.e. BA/Business Admin)
